Pretty much every blogger who first started does the same thing – write a post hoping traffic comes from pouring traffic and everyone knows that traffic doesn’t like work. Because of this, those same bloggers build a few links, write a few more posts, wait for traffic to pour in, and now, what’s wrong with this blogger thinking? I’ll tell you what’s wrong, they think that only traffic comes from search engines. Search engines provide little traffic. Something I find very interesting is that what most people don’t think about is that almost all bloggers use some form of social media on their website. How many bloggers do you know that list the keywords people find their site on? Well, after a little research I did, I found 1 blog out of 50 listings sending their traffic every other keyword.
Why This Thing?
This is important because while most bloggers are still trying to play the search engine game, it’s just a sliver of online traffic. I’m not saying you can’t get a lot of traffic from search engines, however, you’ll be fine with social media and organic traffic diversified traffic. In a recent article I wrote called “How to Look at a Millionaire” I talked about how millionaires think in the long run. The reason for this is because long-term success is usually greater than short-term success. That being said, social interaction has been and will continue to be a major source of traffic for years to come.
